The Complete SharePoint Extranet: Microsoft IAG and Epok

SharePoint extranets offer an important new method for secure communications with external users. SharePoint extranets are being used to manage clinical trials, litigation activities, construction projects, suppliers, dealer portals and more. Extending SharePoint outside your organization also creates new challenges, however, raising operational, security and compliance issues that are not addressed by SharePoint out of the box.

In this webinar we’ll examine a SharePoint extranet implementation in the legal sector and review the key elements of the solution including: user management, content control, compliance support and the network infrastructure for controlling Internet access. We’ll illustrate how Microsoft’s Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) and Epok Edition for SharePoint combine to create a best practices solution for securely extending SharePoint to external users.

Our speakers will be Dave McAlpin, Chief Solution Architect at Epok and Eric Bettermann, Account Manager at IVO Appliance.

New for SharePoint: 'Virtual Document' Provides Simultaneous Editing and Check-in

SharePoint excels at bringing teams together for content creation and collaboration, a vital and time-saving process resulting in increased productivity and efficiency. But waiting for each person to check in SharePoint documents before others can contribute interferes with the document creation process, causing undue stress and marring efficiency.

Until now.

The virtual document is the industry accepted solution for this problem. It contains components, or child documents, acting as content sections feeding into a master document. The docBlock Ascend solution provides virtual document support for the SharePoint platform -- and it can be easily installed as an appliance that automatically connects to your SharePoint farm over a network connection. In addition, document parts can be separately secured so that each contributor can see and work on their section, but only participants you authorize can see the complete document.

Epok invites you to join us for a free webinar to learn more about the docBlock Ascend virtual document appliance for SharePoint from Black Blade. In this demonstration, Black Blade CEO and Microsoft MVP Bradley Smith will show you how the docBlock Ascend transforms the SharePoint platform into a dynamic and collaborative document management platform.

SharePoint Replication: A Critical Element of Enterprise SharePoint Deployments

As SharePoint adoption grows the need to effectively distribute content across SharePoint deployments commonly emerges. If you are not prepared, the end-user experience will suffer and duplicate content will emerge; increasing operating costs and the risk of uncontrolled information
disclosure.

  • Do you collaborate with partners and require a secure extranet that shares content with your intranet?
  • Do you have more than one SharePoint™ installation?
  • Do you need to share documents interactively across multiple offices?
  • Do you have bandwidth restrictions between remote offices?
  • Do you need a replication solution that supports conflict resolution?
  • Are you concerned about effective DR for your SharePoint implementation?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, please join us for a free webinar to review these issues and see Epok's new replication solution developed in partnership with Syntergy Inc.

Protect Your Enterprise Applications From Attack

This is Part 3 of Epok's SharePoint Security Webcast Series.

Enterprise applications, such as Microsoft SharePoint, are attractive targets for attack due to the sensitive nature of information they often store and manage. In this webinar we will examine two critical elements of an attack prevention approach:

  1. Anticipate Attacks and Eliminate Vulnerabilities.
Topographical threat analysis software allows security personnel to visualize the attack paths intruders are most likely to take. By integrating vulnerability scans, firewall rules & asset inventory from multiple sources, correlating, analyzing, and graphing the results, IT management can now predict and respond to the most critical paths of vulnerability within the enterprise.
  2. Defense in Depth.
Outdated stateful inspection methods are no match for today's firewall-evasive attacks. Yet, customers, partners and contractors need access to your business from anywhere, at any time. A network security solution must address these sometimes conflicting requirements, cannot degraded performance, and must also be easy for administrators to use.

The webinar will feature CAULDRON threat analysis software and SonicWall’s network and remote access solution.

SharePoint Content Protection (August 25, 2009)
Protect Your Information AND Improve Collaboration

This is Part 2 of Epok's SharePoint Secuirty webcast series.

The rapid and decentralized adoption of SharePoint can inadvertently create new security risks.

  • Users obtain access to documents they should not have access to
  • Employees, customers and partners download Office documents from SharePoint and then change them without authorization
  • Users share documents that are not properly labeled for security and compliance

SharePoint’s security can be easy to set-up, but often lacks the granularity and flexibility to protect against these risks. Whether you’re responsible for the security or administration of SharePoint, this session will give you the knowledge you need to manage and mitigate these risk areas.

We will conclude with a demonstration of new products from Epok and our partner, Titus Labs, that provide a practical, proven way to classify, protect and control documents managed in SharePoint.

SharePoint Extranet Litigation Portals (June 24, 2009)

Litigation activities involve outside participants such as customers, co-counsel, discovery specialists and expert witnesses. Until now, there have been only limited tools, such as email or FTP sites, for integrating these participants into the litigation management process to share information, activities and task plans. These tools also make it hard to ensure everyone on an extended team has accurate information, and they lack the controls to prevent inappropriate information disclosure.

With Epok software, SharePoint sites can be extended to these external parties to create secure litigation portals. Epok software addresses the user management, security and compliance risks inherent in an extranet portal.

In this webinar, we’ll demonstrate the Epok Edition for Microsoft SharePoint and show how it can be used to create extranet litigation portals. We’ll also talk with Guy Wiggins, Director of Practice Management at Kelley Drye and Warren LLP, about how his firm is using this solution to offer nationwide litigation services to strategic clients.
