A separate security layer ensures only authorized users enter a SharePoint deployment environment

Epok software adds a new level of security to SharePoint. Making authorization decisions outside of SharePoint ensures that no user ever reaches a SharePoint site until they are fully authorized and authenticated. Epok provides an extensible authentication and authorization platform that dramatically expands the authentication options for a SharePoint site. Epok provides the option for Forms Based Authentication (as does SharePoint), Windows NTLM, Kerberos, and 2-factor CAC cards. Epok authentication modules even allow SharePoint to support single sign-on from other vendor’s identity management systems (such as the Sun Identity Manager).

Because the framework is extensible, additional authentication methods can be added without having to modify the SharePoint deployment. Epok provides a just-in-time federation module that allows strategic partners or users in other directory domains, to authenticate to their local directory and single-sign-on into a SharePoint site.
