Bethesda, Maryland – June 25, 2008 – Release 2.2 of the Epok Edition for Microsoft SharePoint is now available. This release builds on Epok’s empowerment of the SharePoint business user by incorporating new functionality directly into the SharePoint UI, where you need them, rather than through a separate management interface.
SharePoint groups are limited to a site collection. In Release 2.2 we introduce Cross-Enterprise Groups that can be authorized for access between site collections and even between SharePoint farms. In this way you can give consistent site access to a number users – yet manage that user group in one place.
Our customers are fans of the automatic user access expiration per organization, since it closes so many security holes and relieves them of necessary chores. We’ve made this function even smarter, through Edit Site Share, by providing alerts for when access is about to expire and allowing the business user to extend access or alter the access policies.
We’ve tied site access much closer to SharePoint’s basic permission levels. Now you can give different permission levels to different organizations that access the same site. And as a SharePoint administrator, you can then directly use the SharePoint site permission functionality to give even greater control.
Lastly we introduced Redundant Clustering for our servers. So for situations that demand high availability for mission critical solutions, we’re able to offer server redundancy to match the Web Front End redundancy in a SharePoint farm.
